I have had extensive experience working with couples, including those in a state of high conflict, and have trained in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples) with Sue Johnson.  I have often found it effective to use a combination of individual and conjoint sessions, working on the communication and relationship styles of the couple in the conjoint sessions, while at the same time helping each individually to work through sensitive places that are triggered by each other, get a better perspective on what is happening in their relationship, and develop confidence in themselves while learning to understand their partner.

In the twenty years I have been licensed, I have worked effectively with a wide variety of individuals and couples from many backgrounds and with many diverse issues.  I bring this diverse experience to my work, with the goal of developing my sessions with each family in the direction that will be most helpful to them.  I am also a trained mediator, having trained with the Northern California Mediation Center in Marin, specialize in mediation of co-parenting and custody related issues, and work to reduce conflict and help my clients create effective solutions that work for them.
